A dynamic approach with Carpet Tiles
DigiHaul is a tech start-up that connects commercial shippers with the UK's largest carrier base, making haulage fast, flexible and reliable. For the company’s new Hertfordshire offices, it called upon design and build contractor Ashlar Projects to deliver a creative interior scheme that reflected its dynamic and energetic approach to driving digital change.
In a scheme that embraces the refurbished office’s traditional room layout, Ashlar Projects uses a range of carpet tiles and planks from Mohawk Group. Echoing wall colours, furniture and paneling, waymarking and branding in accent colours, while adopting a grey duo-tone base and a range of laying patterns in herringbone, plank and chequerboard. Flashes of bold orange stripe run from floor to ceiling in some areas, while in other rooms electric blue appears.
Something a little different
Wesley Matthews, project manager, Ashlar Projects, “We wanted to create something a little different for these offices and Mohawk Group’s carpet planks and tiles gave us the opportunity. We used Art Style carpet planks to create a herringbone pattern in certain areas and a regular plank in others, teaming two designs to bring a solid colour base throughout and using accents to reinforce brand identity. We also used Rudiments Basalt tiles for a more traditional look in thoroughfares and in a retro-style chequerboard pattern for the breakout games room. Using a duo-tone grey base throughout helps to bind everything together.”
Project flooring supporting the creative process
From the Art Style carpet plank collection, Shared Path in 924, 959 and 989, and Disruptive Path in 913 and 915 bring a transitory organic feel that offsets the geometric herringbone layout. Rudiments Basalt is a sophisticated pattern inspired by traditional stone floors, chosen by Ashlar Projects in the greys of 989 and 911. All carpet tiles are made in Belgium from solution-dyed nylon for stain-resistance and long-term appearance retention.
“Mohawk Group’s carpet tiles collection allowed us to be creative with the design, yet we’re also always impressed by the support we receive when putting together our schemes,” continues Wesley. “There’s a great range of designs and we’re fans of the quality of the products. We’re already planning on using Mohawk Group floors in future projects.”
