Delivering the Design at the offices of Sciris Group
Our Rudiments Basalt and Contour View carpet tiles now provide a good looking and easy to maintain floor at the London office of Sciris Group. The designs complement the industrial details of exposed HVAC in the ceiling and zone the space through changes of structured pattern and colour.
From our Rudiments collection, Basalt is a random organic pattern referencing old stone floors. In contrast, Contour’s View is a design of intersecting lines taken from the geometry of architecture. Despite their opposing inspirations, View and Basalt work together by the shared colour palette of our mix and match approach to carpet tile design.
Contrasting patterns zone the space
The interior was created by JT3 Group, lead designer, Kerry Sharp: “I worked closely with our head of preconstruction and the client, recommending finishes including the Mohawk Group carpet tiles. Working to a budget and tight timescale was key for this project, with Basalt and View proving affordable and delivering designs that would let us use the floor as a way of zoning the space. The subtle, structured patterns are used in contrast in key areas to indicate different zones.”
Kerry selected Basalt 959, a charcoal grey, contrasting it with the mid-grey of View 975. Both colours echo the scheme’s use of exposed pipes and let the colour accents of furniture – like the red collaboration sofa, teal meeting chairs and purple acoustic panels – standout.
Both Basalt and View are made from 100% solution dyed nylon for good long-term appearance and easy maintenance. The carpet tiles were supplied and installed by contractor, Iconic Flooring.
